The Diva Special and Observations

Well, I was feeling masochistic Wednesday the 13th of March so I decided to tune into the WWF Divas special; hell, it was either that or watch Danny Bonaduce take on Greg Brady. Actually, it was probably a combination of the masochistic tendencies and being in a haze from the cold medications I'm on but anyway, I did tune in for it. And if you don't know where this whole deal is leading, shame on you, because you should know where I'm ending up with this. It might end up getting pretty bitchy because I've been walloped by one hell of a cold, resulting in me being in less-than great spirits, and since I'm off today, have all the time in the world to rant and rave.

One thing that I was surprised about was the fact that while the whole premise was them jumping around in bikinis that the commentary parts were pretty interesting. And many of the women had some varied and interesting backgrounds and were polished speakers. Even though it sounds strange, some of the women I even gained more respect for, especially Molly, Trish, Jackie, and Ivory. The women usually labeled as "bimbos," like Stacy, Terri, and Torrie even came off pretty well. They did let loose and let their real personalities show.

Now why is this in the Opinion section, you may ask? Well, that's because Sara was featured. I watched her section and was doing a complete, "What the fucking shit?" the whole time.

First of all, I'm surprised they would even entertain the idea of having her back as a Diva. Now I know the prerequisites for such a position aren't like the ones to get into Harvard but, damn, her last outing was bad. Actually, bad is too mild of a description; it was more like "sucked big donkey dick." I covered so much of this in my previous rantfests but she lacked acting skills and general charisma, was Sybil-like in her persona, and helped ruin Page's credibility by having a match with him in which he jobbed to her. And, no, I don't give a flying fuck with that "Well, Taker beat him up first..." argument: she still should not have had the privilege of pinning him. I could equate it to letting Nidia (a new member of the roster) pin Taker (a veteran). And I'm sure the fur would be flying if that happened. No wonder they had to do a mercy killing on that angle. Sara, in general, along with the angle was universally panned by wrestling fans, from the news sites to RSPW to smaller message boards.

I also had a laugh when she talked about her "worst pickup line" thing. If it actually occurred, he's a much bigger dork than what I took him for. So I will agree with her on the fact it was "lame." Sara said it occurred when she had a tongue ring and first met Taker; he asked a friend to ask her if he could see it. Of course, like Chris Rock said in what I believe was his "No Sex in the Champagne Room" video, girls with tongue rings will suck your dick so maybe he had ulterior motives. Hell, he's male and taking that into consideration, I don't think he's this completely saintly chaste man. Shit, I've been around enough guys to know they can be horndogs. Now back to the initial meeting. If this was how the big first meeting occurred, then what about the WWF.com article in which she took a couple kids to an autograph signing and, after he got out of his limo, their eyes locked and it was "love at first sight?" Her new version sounds more like "love under the bar light." This is proof that those articles put out by the WWF last year were nothing but PR bullshit for damage control.

Another funny thing was her "weirdest place you had sex" one where she and Taker ended up banging in a bathroom stall at the Ice Palace. Shit, like I read somewhere she sounded more in tune with the game than with Taker. I do wonder how he felt about her letting that little fact out? Holy shit, I can imagine the ribbing fodder with that one.

Overall, her interview portion was something else. No mention of her background whatsoever. At least you'd think she'd mention some of that furniture moving or something she was proud of six months ago. And while the other women talked about their backgrounds that led to them getting in wrestling and helped them succeed, the only thing she talked about was her "tomboy" personality and the fact she works out seven days a week. She also mentioned her husband, Calaway, quite often which got over to me more like she was making sure people knew her association to one of the wrestling's greats. So I guess these are her reasons she feels worthy of being in the Diva-hood. Sorry but marrying a wrestler and using his politicking to get in the door, working out, and being a tomboy doesn't really put you in that league, in my opinion.

Her attitude also really put me off, including the fake laugh. I think she was trying to convey a "genuine tough girl" image and coming up short. The way she talks, she sounded like a high school girl, especially the ones who try to act tough and don't think before they speak. I'm close to her age (one year younger, actually) and if I would begin to sound like that, I would instruct someone I know to put me out of my misery. Even though she's striving to be one, the girl gives the word "bitch" a bad name. And I don't know why she'd apparently still be proud of fighting other girls and talking shit to people she's encountered and didn't like. When I was a teenager, I also got into fights (mainly with guys ) but I'm definitely not proud of it, no matter what end I came out on. I've also done my fair share of shit talking but it's something I've grown out of. Now some may think this is whole deal is shit-talking but it's commentary, plain and simple. It gets bitchy and negative but it's my general feelings and it's not out to start shit with anyone.

Someone on a forum also brought up that Calaway must be suffering a mid-life crisis to even have married her because they felt her personality sucked so he was definitely thinking with something else other than his brain. And I had to think of Taker and the goofy shit he's said and done these past couple years when Mark McGwire (one of my fave ballplayers, now retired) started acting eerily similar and doing shit like telling ESPN he retired before he even told his own team. Wouldn't you know it- Mark (who's 38) is engaged to a 24-year-old pegged to be an opportunist and has the fans pissed off because she, according to some interview, encouraged Big Mac to retire. That and she's dragging some of their private life into the public realm through interviews, something McGwire has always been against. And his fans are saying he's in a mid-life crisis and not behaving like he used to. Those two camps should get together- I'm sure they'd become fast friends. :P

And, finally, even the male segment, regarding her Diva appearance, is even eclipsing me in the bitchiness factor and they've been downright brutal (namely RSPW). Some questioned why they spent so much time on Sara when "no one cares about her anyway" and figuring this is to appease Calaway in some way, such as him agreeing to do the job at WM. With things like that floating around in the male circuit, I guess that whole "you're jealous" theory some throw like to throw out at folks who don't like Sara is blown to hell. Well, unless the guys really want implants and to have a quickie with Taker in a bathroom. ;)
